Empowering Minds: Homer Central School District Hosts John Perricone’s Visit to Cortland County
On Thursday, May 2, the Homer Central School District will host an extraordinary event with John Perricone, an acclaimed teacher and speaker known for his dynamic approach to teaching and learning. Mr. Perricone, who has spent over three decades in the educational field, will be sharing his insights on developing inner strength and reflecting on personal philosophies of life through presentations designed for students, educators, and community members alike.
The day will commence with a High School Assembly in the High School Auditorium, followed by a Junior High Assembly in Bonne Auditorium. The day’s events will conclude with a mental health resource fair beginning at 5:00 pm in the Homer High School lobby followed by an evening presentation at 6:00 pm, welcoming the broader community ages 16+ from across Cortland County to engage in a meaningful dialogue to reflect on their personal philosophies of life and the role these play in shaping how they interact with their world.
John Perricone is no stranger to accolades, having received numerous "Excellence in Teaching" awards, including SUNY Cortland’s Distinguished Educator Award. His book, "Zen and the Art of Public School Teaching," has been used by educators nationwide, reflecting his profound understanding of the psychological and emotional complexities of student development.
In his evening presentation, “Developing a Philosophical Identity” he will compellingly guide his audience through a series of thoughtful exercises designed to help them better understand themselves and the life path they are on.
"We are thrilled to welcome John Perricone to our district," Homer Family and Community Liaison Alicia Maroney said. "This event is a fantastic opportunity for our students and community to gain valuable insights into the power of self-awareness and inner strength."
