The Homer Central School District is inviting applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. Located in western Cortland County, our district serves approximately 1,844 students and is supported by 350 dedicated staff members across four school buildings. We are committed to providing a supportive learning environment that empowers students to become responsible, productive citizens. Our experienced and talented educators are dedicated to helping every student prepare for a future of lifelong learning and success.

As we begin this search, we are looking for a visionary and collaborative leader who can build on our district's strong foundation while guiding Homer Central into the future. Selection Process

The Homer Board of Education has asked the OCM BOCES District Superintendent to assist and advise the Board in its selection process. All applications and communications should be directed to:

Applications must be emailed or postmarked by Monday, November 30, 2026. Application information can be obtained from the OCM BOCES website at ocmboces.org/supersearch or the Homer Central School District website at homercentral.org. Applicants are prohibited from contacting members of the Homer Board of Education. The final choice of a superintendent will be the responsibility of the Board of Education.

With a successful contract, the anticipated start date will be July 1, 2027.

Candidate Profile

The Homer Central School District is looking for a superintendent who is:

  • A visible and approachable individual with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire

  • An effective communicator who listens to and respects the ideas of others, and can articulate the district's goals, successes, and challenges

  • An individual of the highest integrity with high ethical and moral standards

  • An experienced leader who can demonstrate fiscal responsibility

  • A lifelong learner who instills a love for learning in all

Experience as a superintendent or in a central office position is strongly preferred. Residency in the district is encouraged but not required.

Position

The Board of Education plans to offer a salary in the range of $170-190,000 with a competitive benefits package, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be offered a three-year contract with an annual performance review.
