Intermediate School Dismissal Update
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISMISSAL UPDATE!
In our continuing efforts to improve traffic flow at Homer Intermediate School during dismissal, we will make the following change beginning Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
Please see the change that will be in effect for dismissal only:
Parents/guardians picking up a child whose last name begins with the letters A-H:
You will use the marquee entrance parking lot beginning October 2nd. Please follow the arrows in the lot to pull all the way around and form a single line along the curb area that runs the entire length of the lot. Be sure to pull as far forward as possible to allow for the most cars to enter the lot and clear Clinton Street.
When leaving the lot, cars will be expected to turn left and head toward Main Street. Cars should not arrive before 3:20 p.m. All cars need to be out of the marquee lot by 3:45 to allow buses to enter.
Parents of students in band or chorus with later dismissal or parents that arrive late may pull into the parent lot after 3:45 p.m.
Parents/guardians picking up a child whose last name begins with the letters I-Z:
You will continue to use the new parent parking lot loop and follow the established traffic pattern. When leaving the lot, cars will be expected to turn right and head toward Route 281. Cars should not arrive before 3:20 p.m.
For families whose children have multiple last names:
Please have all family members use the lot designated for the oldest child.
You may park in a parking space if you need to arrive earlier or wait for an older child to be dismissed in the parent lot. Please do not enter the pick up line and wait for students to be dismissed from band or chorus.
To allow this modification, busses will pick up Homer Elementary School bus riders while parents are picking up their children at Homer Intermediate. Busses will then head to the Intermediate School for bus dismissal.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Intermediate School office. Thank you for your continued understanding and help as we strive to improve a process that has already resulted in a safer dismissal for students and their families!
