Homer French and Art Students Attend Van Goh Experience

Van Goh Exhibit

Homer High School French and Art students recently had the opportunity to learn about Post-impressionist painter Vincent Van Gogh through an interactive immersive experience.

Students learned about his life, family and education as well as his artistic inspirations. Students then relaxed and reflected amongst infamous quotes from Van Gogh’s writings and his paintings in the meditation room.

Students then demonstrated their own creative sides by coloring some of Van Gogh’s iconic paintings and projected them on the wall in order to visualize the paintings through his colorblind eyes.

Both experiencing the art and culture for the first time or enhancing what was learned in class, students also had the opportunity to have lunch at an authentic Moroccan restaurant!

Anessa Wahhed, the owner of Tara Kitchen, fell in love with Moroccan cuisine on a trip to Marrakesh. She has won many culinary awards and has starred on a variety of cooking shows such as Beat Bobby Flay, Kitchen Crash and Guy Fieri’s Grocery Games.

What a special treat for us to dine in her restaurant!
