Loving Yourself Fights Bullying

How to help kids build strong, load-bearing social and emotional pillars: Empathy, Remorse, Self Expression, Independence, Adaptability, Interpersonal Problem Solving, Kindness, and Respect while building an age-appropriate understanding of social dynamics. In short, how do we help kids be less reactive and work through social struggles? These skills will be translatable to both the home and school environments as presented by local mental health therapist, Karen Dudgeon, LCSW.  This workshop is appropriate for parents, teachers, and other supportive adults. NOT limited to Homer School District. For more information or to register click the button below.

Text reads: STIGMA GROWS IN SILENCE. HEALING BEGINS IN COMMUNITY. Mental Health Awareness Month 2026.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month provides a chance to stand with your community and show that no one struggles alone.

NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Health) New York State is inviting the community to share their stories—because lived experience is one of the most powerful tools we have to educate, advocate, and support one another.
NAMI is asking community members to reflect on their journey and consider:
  • What experience or moment in your mental health journey would you like to share—and why does it matter to you?
  • What would you want someone going through a similar experience to hear right now?
  • How has NAMI impacted your life or supported your journey?
Your story does more than raise awareness—it helps show NAMI better understand how they're showing up for the community.

Fentanyl Awareness: Save A Life

Do you know where your pill came from? Unless you got it from a pharmacy or your doctor, it could contain a deadly dose of fentanyl.

Substance use and mental health are closely connected—understanding both can help protect you and those around you. Protect yourself and your friends by learning the facts and accessing support at fentanylawarenessday.org.

To learn more watch Real Talk About Fake Pills, a 20-minute educational film for teens, designed to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and fake pills, and share it with your teenager.
