Protecting Children In Today's Digital World

DATE: Thursday, January 15th, 2026
TIME: 5:00-5:30 Light Dinner
     5:30-7:00 pm Workshop

Geri Ann Brooks, Assistant Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Cortland County, will be presenting an informative session on how to keep our children safe on the internet.

Geri Ann will share practical strategies, current online safety concerns, and tools families can use to protect children in today’s digital world. She will share her first hand experiences with working with children at risk and how these situations could have been prevented. This presentation is ideal for parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone who works with youth.

NAMI Youth & Young Adult Resource Highlight: College Mental Health Guide

College can be an exciting time of growth, but it also comes with new pressures and mental health challenges for students and educators alike. The Mental Health College Guide, developed by NAMI and The Jed Foundation, is a one-stop online resource designed to help students understand their mental health, practice self-care, and find support, while also offering educators practical strategies for supporting students who may be struggling. If you have a young person in your life currently in college or heading there soon, this is worth a look! January 19th - Martin Luther King Jr. Day

On Monday, January 19th Homer Central School District will be closed in observance of the federal holiday celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. It's a great day to learn more about why the U.S. celebrates this holiday.

The Cortland YWCA will be hosting a free nourishing Soup & Bread Luncheon and an eye-opening Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation experience. Through guided activities and conversation, participants will explore how historical and present-day policies shape financial outcomes across communities, sharing a meal while building empathy and awareness. Homer Little League Winter Clinic

Registration is still open for the Homer Little League Winter Clinic.

Winter Clinics will be held Sundays at the JM McDonald Sports Complex from 2-3 p.m. and are FREE FOR REGISTERED Homer Little League players aged 8-12!
