Process for screening students to determine their readiness to compete in
interscholastic athletic competition by evaluation their physical maturity,
fitness and skill.
Design:
For mature and exceptionally skilled students to advance to an upper level
and less developed students to participate at an appropriate lower level that
is suited to their development and ability.
Not Designed To:
Fill positions on teams
Provide additional experience
Provide a place for junior high students when no modified program
is offered
As a reward for a student
Director of Physical Education/Athletics Responsibilities for Implementation:
Process students through the S/C Program when recommended by coach,
PE Teacher, or at the suggestion of the director
Prior to screening must obtain parental permission and school physician
approval
Contact the junior high school to inquire about the social, emotional
and academic maturity and readiness of the athlete
Process:
Parent Contact and permission-by
letter or meeting
School Physician must see student to do maturity rating.
Athletic Performance Testing administered by PE teacher who is
not the individual's coach
Sports Skill Evaluation completed by the coach
Mail name and scores to Section Three Office
Maintain a permanent Selection/Classification record for each student
who qualifies in the director's office must include the following
