Transportation - Head Mechanic

This is a supervisory position responsible for maintenance and repairs of vehicles and busses owned by the school district. Graduate from High School and four years of full-time experience as a skilled automotive mechanic required. Must have or be eligible for a CDLB with SP Endorsements. Salary is DOE. Administration - Transportation Supervisor

The Homer Central School District has an opening for a School Transportation Supervisor.

This is a supervisory position involving responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the transportation program in a school district. The work involves the dispatching of drivers and school buses for the district and ensuring that all school district buses are staffed with drivers following established routes and prepared time schedules. The incumbent is also responsible for planning, directing and participating in the maintenance and repair of school automotive equipment. The work is preformed under the general supervision of the Superintendent/Director of Business & Finance with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Supervision is exercised over the work of Bus Drivers, Automotive Mechanics, and Garage Attendants.

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years of full-time experience or its part-time equivalent as a skilled automotive mechanic.

NOTE: Study in a technical school, community college, or post high school certificate program in automotive mechanics or technology may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Special Requirements

An Examiner’s Certificate (19A) issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles must be obtained within one (1) year of appointment. Failure to obtain and/or maintain the certificate will result in dismissal.
Eligibility for a class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsements issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Possession of the license is required at the time of appointment.
School Bus Driver Instructor Certification strongly desired but not required at time of appointment.

The Homer Central School District announces an opening for a Director of Instruction & Evaluation. We are seeking a highly qualified educational leader to fill this position. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Lawrence King, who has served the district for 32 years.

The Director of Instruction and Evaluation reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Director is responsible for overseeing the initiation and implementation of curricular change, for the coordination of curriculum K-12, and for the compliance with state requirements and mandates. The Director will participate with building Principals in the selection of and the evaluation of staff and in the development of plans for improving instruction. The Director will oversee the District testing program and will prepare regular reports to the Board of Education regarding academic achievement in the District.

NYS School District Administrator's Certificate required, experience in the curriculum area preferred.
