Homer Central Schools serve breakfast and lunch in all of
our buildings. We understand the important relationship between
nutrition and health, and nutrition and learning. We encourage
every student to eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch every day.
Homer Central Schools follow a "traditional meal pattern" menu
planning system. This planning system ensures that the necessary
vitamins, nutrients, and calories are offered in a week of planned
menus. The required components for breakfast and lunch are listed
below.
Breakfast: two servings of grains/breads, one serving
of fruit juice or fruit, one serving of milk. Students must take
a minimum of 3 items for breakfast.
Lunch: one serving of meat/meat alternate, one serving
of grains/bread, two servings of vegetables and/or fruit, one
serving of milk. Students must take a minimum of 3 items for
lunch.
Planned menus are distributed monthly. Peanut butter and jelly
sandwiches are available every day as an alternate choice to
the planned menu.
Weekly tickets are on sale Monday mornings in the cafeteria.
Two, three, and four day tickets are also available.
Free and reduced meal applications are given to all students
on the first day of school. Applications may be submitted for
review any time during the school year. Students eligible for
free or reduced meals are eligible for both breakfast and lunch.
All information on the meal application is confidential. If you
have any questions about the meal application or our school meal
programs, please call the Food Service office at 749-1216.
