Hartnett Elementary School is located on Academy Street in Truxton, New York. We currently have 125 students enrolled in grades K-6 and a staff of 30 full and part-time individuals working with students in various capacities.
Hartnett Elementary School was named after Miss Marion H. Hartnett, a former teacher, principal, and superintendent. The school was named in her honor in 1996. We constantly strive to maintain the high standards that Miss Hartnett stood for.
Hartnett Elementary offers a variety of programs to interest almost any youngster. In addition to fine academic programs in the core subjects, we offer excellent opportunities in vocal and instrumental music, art, and athletics. We strive to integrate technology into our daily instruction through the use of interactive boards, ipods, flip cameras, distance learning, and personal computers located in our computer lab. The Hartnett staff is committed to promoting a lifelong love for learning and educating the whole child academically and emotionally. A heavy emphasis is placed on Character Education as we strive to instill values of respect, responsibility, and good citizenship into the hearts and minds of our young children.
Many extra activities are offered at school either by staff members, our School Community Association, or dedicated volunteers. Our staff and community members work together to provide:
School Dances, School Bingo Night, Parents as Reading Partners, Academic Achievement Awards, Field Trips, Movie Nights, Vocal and Instrumental Concerts, Fitness Challenges, Annual School Plays, and a variety of Truxton Recreational Opportunities for children.
It is a real honor and pleasure to be a member of the Hartnett Elementary School Community, where we strive for excellence in education and success for all children.
