Homer High School
Social Studies Department

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

AP Prerequisites:

The student must meet two of the following criteria:
· A combined average of 89.5 for all preceding required high school Social Studies courses;

· A final exam/Regents Exam average of 85 for all preceding high school Social Studies courses;

· Positive recommendation(s) from her/his previous high school Social Studies teachers.

· It is expected that the student will maintain a minimum quarterly average of 80% throughout the course. A ten-week average below 80 earns the student academic probation for the AP course. An average below 80% for two marking periods will cause the student to be dropped from the course.

· It is expected that the student will register and sit for the course's Advanced Placement Examination in May.
