Third and Fourth Graders Celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day Third and Fourth Graders Celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day: Recently, some students from the Intermediate School’s third and fourth grade classes celebrated “Winnie-the-Pooh Day!”
The students had listened to Ms. Martin read “Winnie: The True Story of the Bear Who Inspired Winnie-the-Pooh” aloud, and learned that the fictional icon was actually based on a real bear named Winnie. Fifth Grade Students Learn About Knighthood, Try on Armor Fifth Grade Students Learn About Knighthood, Try on Armor: Recently, Homer Central High School Art Teacher Mr. Andre visited with some fifth-graders from the intermediate school, and gave a presentation on suits of armor. Representing a hands-on connection to the students’ recent unit “The Adventures of Don Quixote,” the presentation explored what knighthood meant during that period, while also giving the students a chance to see (and even try-on) era-specific pieces of armor to get a feel for what those knights must have felt like ... more >>
