The study will focus on grades K-6 and will examine enrollment projections, program offerings, facilities, transportation, finances, staffing, employee contracts, and stakeholder perception. The central question to be answered in the study is:

| Meetings are open to the public for observation purposes. Only the consultants and members of the advisory committee will actively participate in the meetings. Additionally, a December 8th public forum will be held in the High School Library. At this forum, district residents will have the opportunity to hear preliminary recommendations regarding the study and to share their thoughts with the consultants and the advisory committee. It is anticipated that the consultants will present their recommendations to the Homer Board of Education at their meeting on January 12, 2010.

Alan Pole and Philip Martin, educational consultants from Manlius, New York, will be conducting the study, working with the advisory committee. The advisory committee will work closely with the consultants to offer advice and to communicate with their respective constituent groups. The committee will also assist with the community forum and act as a sounding board for the tentative recommendations, once developed.
